Justin Timberlake and Kate Winslet head up cast for next Woody Allen film
Woody Allen is clearly interested in continuing his tradition of unconventional casting choices, if the list for his next film is any indication.
The man who made Andrew Dice Clay shine in "Blue Jasmine" and tapped Miley Cyrus for a TV series is looking to add Justin Timberlake to the vast company of actors he's worked with over the years.
Allen's next feature film -- his 48th -- will star Timberlake alongside James Belushi, Juno Temple and Oscar winner Kate Winslet, it was announced Thursday. No title or plot details for the film were mentioned, though it is believed to be a period drama set in the 1950s.
While Timberlake might seem like an odd choice, this is far from his first foray into acting for film. His first major film role came in 2006 with "Alpha Dog," and he's also starred in "Friends with Benefits," "Runner Runner" and "In Time." This November, he'll voice a lead character in "Trolls."
Allen's new film begins shooting in New York City this fall. The prolific filmmaker is also at work on his first television series, for Amazon, starring Miley Cyrus, Elaine May and himself. His latest completed film, "Cafe Society," opens in theaters July 15.
