Justin Bieber buys new L.A. home
(MoneyWatch) COMMENTARY [Editor's note: After this report, news was released that Ashton Kutcher purchased the property, not Justin Bieber] Justin Bieber is now officially too old to date most of his fans. The teen heart throb recently celebrated his 18th birthday and, like many other kids his age, celebrated the milestone with parties and gifts.
The biggest difference between "The Biebs" and his peers? One of those gifts was a $10.8 million house -- which he bought for himself. It's more than most people earn in a lifetime, but it's just a drop in the bucket for Bieber. Forbes reports he earned $53 million in 2011 alone.
According to the Daily Mail, the singer purchased the property in Los Angeles in hopes of shacking up with his girlfriend, former Disney Channel star Selena Gomez. Despite rumors the two will soon be living together, Bieber insists they're not engaged. "First and foremost, I'm not engaged. You know, we're still young, at this moment in time, this is where I am, that is all I can really say," he told Ryan Seacrest on his 18th birthday.
Zillow reports Bieber's new palace offers a massive 9,400 square feet of living space and features stunning views of Hollywood Lake. The home is made of glass and steel boxes that appear to float above the pool and patio.
The modern mansion has five bedrooms, eight bathrooms and a "floating" dining room. In addition to the gourmet kitchen, the home features a private screening room, bar, private gym and massage room, spa-like master bath, enclosed gardens and an open sky terrace.

Retirement strategy: Planning for big purchases
The L.A. abode is obviously fit for celebrity guests -- the current tenant is Ashton Kutcher, who rented the property for $50,000 a month after his divorce from Demi Moore. Once the "Two and a Half Men" star moves out, Bieber and Gomez can get comfy in their new love nest.
The listing is held by David Findley of Partners Trust Real Estate Brokerage and Acquisitions.
