Justin Bieber buys his first home
(MoneyWatch) It's every parent's worst nightmare: Their teenage son or daughter, barely out of childhood, living alone with no supervision. Unfortunately for the parents of pop-sensation Justin Bieber, that's exactly what they're dealing with.
The 18-year-old will be able to entertain 19-year-old girlfriend Selena Gomez and all of his other friends whenever he wants now that he has purchased his first home. After a long search, the "Boyfriend" singer finally settled on a $6.5million mansion in Calabasas, Calif., and "Baby," it's a humdinger.
The estate includes 1.3 acres with manicured lawns and a pond on the grounds. Counting the guesthouse (which is bigger than the average home), there are seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms in the "transitional French" style 10,000-square-foot property.
Amenities include a library, movie theater with stadium seating, a wet bar (to serve non-alcoholic beverages, no doubt), a wine cellar, large pool. It also naturally comes with a garage big enough to fit his armada of cars, including his 18th birthday present -- $100,000 Fisker Karma electric car.
According to the Daily Mail, Bieber plans to install a computer system that will allow him to control every part of the home, "from the bathtub to the blinds," with just the touch of a button.
While photos of the home showcase its glamor, the more interesting pictures will be of how a teenage boy decorates his first home. If the Daily Mail is right, it will be in the style of a "teenage boy's bedroom," complete with the latest gaming consoles and old arcade games.

Buying a home: Facts and fictions about investing
The home's previous owner, Eddie Murphy's ex-wife Nicole Murphy, sold the property last year for just $5.515 million, according to the Los Angeles Times. Bieber reportedly paid considerably less than the $8.75 million listing price.
Still, that'sl chump change for the mini-mogul, who earned a reported $53 million in 2011 alone.
Bieber missed out on a Hollywood Hills home he was eying -- and reportedly purchased -- when renter Ashton Kutcher decided he wanted to extend his stay and bought the house from under Justin. That home was more expensive at a listed $10.8 million, and smaller with only five bedrooms and eight bathrooms, totaling 9,400 square feet.
The 34-year-old "Two and a Half Men" star had been renting the property after listing his home with Demi Moore following their divorce.
But there's no need to worry about Bieber. He'll be in good company in his pad's gated community. Neighbors include the Kardashians, Cameron Diaz, Lady Gaga, fellow-Canadian Drake, and Howie Mandel.
