Julie Peters Update: Authorities believe they have found the body of missing Ill. mom
(CBS) CHILLICOTHE, Ill. - Authorities believe they may have found the body ofJulie Peters, a 23-year-old Illinois mother who went missing after leaving a wedding reception in Chillicothe on Sept. 28, CBS affiliate WMBD reports.
Authorities found a vehicle with a body inside in the Illinois River in Chillicothe shortly before 6 p.m. Monday.
Peoria Coroner Johnna Ingersoll says the body was that of a young woman who matched the description of Peters, reports the Peoria Journal Star.
The vehicle found reportedly matches the description of the car Peters was last seen driving. Ingersoll told the paper sonar equipment was used to locate the car.
An autopsy will be conducted to confirm the identity of the body.
Peters, of Edwards, is a mother of two. She was last seen leaving the American Legion in Chillicothe between 10:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Sept. 28, WMBD reports.
The vehicle was recovered from the river two blocks southeast of the American Legion, the Peoria Journal Star reports.
It was previously reported Peters' ex-boyfriend was questioned in connection with the investigation.
It is unclear whether authorities suspect foul play.
