(CBS) Actress Julie Delpy, best known for starring in "Before Sunrise" opposite Ethan Hawke, showed her new film, "2 Days in New York," at the Sundance Film Festival this week.

The film is a sequel to "2 Days in Paris," a film she wrote and directed starring Adam Goldberg as her on-screen boyfriend. This time, Delpy changes cities and boyfriends, casting comedian Chris Rock as her new love interest.

"When I decided to make a sequel to the film I wanted him to be my new boyfriend," said Delpy, according to Reuters.

In the film Marion (Delpy) and her boyfriend Mingus (Rock) are visited by her French father (Albert Delpy, her real-life Dad) and sister, Rose (Alexia Landeau) after the death of Marion's mother - and awkward cultural misunderstandings ensue.

On and off screen, Rock said, he could not understand Deply's on-and-off-screen father because he speaks only French.

"It really was kind of awkward to shoot with a guy that doesn't speak English. I mean...nothing!" Rock told the Daily Beast.

"I have always been fascinated by language and being a foreigner in America and having traveled many places. I think with human beings, there is a lot of misunderstanding already, especially in relationships but it gets even more when there is language issues,"said the French-American Delpy, according to Reuters.

Rock, who is known more for his bigger comedic films, said he wanted to be in the movie because, "I thought the script was great and I trusted Julie and that was enough for me."
