JPMorgan Chase CEO tells staff bank 'very strong'

(AP) NEW YORK — JPMorgan Chase (JPM) CEO Jamie Dimon is reassuring the bank's employees that the company is "very strong."

The bank disclosed a $2 billion trading loss on Thursday night. It was a surprise to Wall Street and is knocking down the bank's stock price by more than 8 percent.

In a letter sent to employees late Thursday that was obtained by The Associated Press, Dimon says no customers suffered as a result of the bank's mistakes. He says that the bank can withstand the setback, but that it doesn't excuse the mistakes.

Dimon says the bank's "top people" are "digging deeper into these issues."
