Joss Whedon's "In Your Eyes" released on Vimeo right after festival debut
More and more filmmakers are embracing the latest digital distribution trends. Take Joss Whedon.
The Hollywood heavyweight has a new supernatural drama out, "In Your Eyes," which premiered at this year's Tribeca Film Festival shortly before it was then made available to watch as an online rental on Vimeo.
The new drama starring Zoe Kazan, Michael Stahl-David, Nikki Reed and Jennifer Grey can be rented out for a 72-hour duration at a cost of $5.
The film was financed through Bellwether Pictures, described on its Twitter page as a "micro-studio" founded by Whedon and his producer wife, Kai Cole:
Whedon served as screenwriter and executive producer on "In Your Eyes," with Brin Hill stepping into the director's chair.
Kazan plays a bored East Coast housewife who realizes she shares a strange metaphysical connection to a New Mexico con-man (Stahl-David).
The first three minutes of the film are available to watch here:
Screenings of "In Your Eyes" will be held on Monday night and Wednesday afternoon at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival, which runs until April 27.
