John Edwards: I did wrong, but I didn't break the law
Former senator and two-time Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards gave a brief statement after pleading not guilty to charges that he improperly solicited and used hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions to keep the existence of his mistress and her baby with him a secret.
"There's no question that I've done wrong, and I take full responsibility for having done wrong," Edwards said. "And I will regret for the rest of my life the pain and the harm that I've caused to others. But I did not break the law, and I never, ever thought I was breaking the law. Thank you all very much."
