Joey Lawrence and Melissa Joan Hart Reunite on ABC Family's "Melissa & Joey"
NEW YORK (CBS) Former child stars Joey Lawrence and Melissa Joan Hart are joining forces again for a new sitcom.
"Melissa & Joey," premiering Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST on ABC Family, stars Hart as Mel, a former party girl turned local politician whose life is turned upside down when her sister goes to jail, leaving her with a niece and nephew to take care of.
Lawrence's character Joey is a victim of the financial crisis who is out of work after a flopped investment deal. Desperate for room and board, Mel takes in Joey to help her raise the kids.
The duo came up with the idea of the eponymous titled series after the success of their 2009 made-for-TV movie, "My Fake Fiance," which earned the title of most-watched movie on ad-supported cable among viewers between 18-49.
Now in their 30's, both Lawrence and Hart are sitcom veterans. Hart is best known for her roles in the hit teenage shows "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" and "Clarissa Explains It All," while Lawrence is widely recognized as Joey Russo in the hit 90's show "Blossom" and his role in "Gimme a Break!"
