Joel McHale to host 2015 ESPY Awards
There is no such thing as too many sports analogies for Joel McHale, who will be hosting the 2015 ESPYS on July 15.
"I'm thrilled to be hosting The ESPYS. Just ecstatic," the "Community" star said in a statement Friday. "After my stunning victory in the Iditarod [dog sled race] this year by only using six Bichon Frises and a lamb, I think the sports world saw me as the logical host."
Last year, McHale hosted the White House Correspondents' Dinner and had a few sports quips sprinkled in with his biting political jokes, making him a fitting choice for the ESPYS host spot. One example -- Peyton Manning, McHale quipped, wanted to come to the dinner but "can only move four yards at a time."
The ESPN special will gather top athletes and celebrities to commemorate the year's major sports achievements and memorable moments and give out accolades like the Best MLB Player Award, the Best Female Athlete awards and the Jimmy V Perseverance Award.
