Jim Nantz

Jim Nantz is in his eighth season as the lead play-by-play announcer for CBS Sports' college basketball coverage.

Nantz served as primetime host of CBS' coverage of 1998 Olympic Winter Games from Nagano, Japan. He has co-hosted the tournament and hosted the Final Four and championship game coverage for five years.

Nantz will serve as anchor for The NFL Today beginning in fall 1998. He serves as anchor for College Football Today, the PGA Tour and The Masters®, and as lead play-by-play announcer for the U.S. Open Tennis Championships.

A contributor to CBS News, Nantz joined CBS Sports in 1985 as host of the Network's college football studio show. His credits include lead play-by-play announcer for college football (1996), play-by-play for NFL (1991-93), co-host of weekend daytime coverage of 1992 and the 1994 Olympic Winter Games, the Cotton Bowl (1985-88), and the Heisman Trophy Award show (1986-88)

A 1981 graduate of the University of Houston with a degree in radio/television, nantz held variety of broadcasting jobs at Houston, leading to sportscaster positions at KHOU-TV and KTRH Radio.

Born May 17, 1959 in Charlotte, N.C., Nantz lives in Fairfield County, Conn., with his wife and daughter.
