Jessica Simpson dishes on second pregnancy to Ellen
On Wednesday's "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," the talk show host introduced guest Jessica Simpson by saying, "Please welcome the always-pregnant Jessica Simpson."
And that certainly seems to be the case. It was just a year ago, when a very-pregnant Simpson last sat down with DeGeneres, while pregnant with now 1-year-old daughter, Maxwell.
During her visit, the 32-year-old star opens up about pregnancy number two, and explains how she came to be in this "predicament" as DeGeneres called it, saying, "I don't know, apparently protection was just thrown out the window."
And while she says that she and fiance, Eric Johnson, are "happy" about their little surprise, they were "definitely extremely shocked" when they found out. Their daughter, "was our focus, and then I was puking and lying on the couch."
And Simpson explains that this time around, she is having a much more unpleasant experience: "This pregnancy is the complete opposite. Like, with Maxwell, I felt amazing. Like, I could do everything, eat everything. Do whatever I wanted. I had a lot of energy. This time around...I'm like exhausted. Eating Tums. That's my snack of choice."
"The first pregnancy, I like, let loose and I kind of ate everything that I wanted to eat and I just really enjoyed it," Simpson added. "This time around I think because I was doing Weight Watchers and I felt super healthy. I'm not really craving as much and I know how hard it is to get off, so I'm trying to make healthier, wiser decisions."
But no matter what she looks like, "The Fashion Star" judge still has a fan in her fiance: "Apparently Eric still wanted me so, I can gain as much weight and I still have a husband-to-be that loves me."
DeGeneres also makes a guess at the sex of the baby (she think it's a boy). In an effort to get Simpson to spill the beans, she presented her with two onesies for Maxwell, one for a baby brother, the other for a baby sister. "Take that one," said DeGeneres, handing her the brother one.
But Simpson didn't give in, hedging, "If it's a girl, she might call her 'bro.'"
Then DeGeneres wouldn't give in. "That's my guess," she said, referring to the baby brother one.
But she'll just have to wait and see like the rest of us.
