Jerry Bruckheimer Talks "Shop"

When you think of mega producer Jerry Bruckheimer's film career you think of action films and franchises, but next week he brings us something completely different, the romantic comedy, "Confessions of a Shopaholic."

Bruckheimer sat down with Early Show co-anchors Harry Smith and Maggie Rodriguez and actor Cuba Gooding Jr., who was interviewed earlier, to talk "shop."

"You were talking about bailouts and 'Show me the money.' You're doing a movie about someone who's a shopaholic," Rodriguez said. "Do you think it's counter to what's happening in the economy right now?"

"Not really because this girl overcomes her problems. And it's a triumphant ending. She finds love. She settles her financial problems. It's a lesson for the whole world," Bruckheimer said.

Isla Fisher, who starred in "Wedding Crashers" and "Definitely Maybe" plays the main character in "Confessions of a Shopaholic."

"So why this movie?" Rodriguez asked.

"Well 25 years ago, I did a little thing called 'Flashdance,'" Bruckheimer joked. "I just loved the character and we read the books eight years ago. It's been developing for eight years and I fell in love with the character."

Bruckheimer has seven CBS shows currently on the air, including "The 11th Hour," the second highest rated show on CBS.

"Confessions of a Shopaholic" opens nationwide on Friday, Feb. 13.
