Jennifer Lawrence to announce Oscar nominations

(CBS) Jennifer Lawrence is taking on a new role - announcer of the nominees for this year's Academy Awards.

"The Hunger Games" star will join Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science President Tom Sherak to reveal the nominees live on Jan. 24.

Sherak and Lawrence will announce 10 of Oscar's 24 categories at the early-morning press conference.

The 21-year-old earned her first Oscar nomination last year, in the best actress category for her role in "Winter's Bone."

The 84th annual Academy Awards will be presented on Feb. 26.
