Jennifer Lawrence says "Hunger Games" character inspired essay on gender pay gap

Remember Jennifer Lawrence's pay gap essay? Well, the 25-year-old actress says it was in part inspired by her character Katniss Everdeen in "The Hunger Games" franchise.

"I don't see how I couldn't be inspired by this character. I mean I was so inspired by her when I read the books -- it's the reason I wanted to play her," she told reporters, per Reuters. "So I think it would be impossible to go four years with this character and not be inspired by her."

Lawrence opened up recently about how she felt when she learned (via last year's Sony hack) that her male co-stars on "American Hustle" had made more than she did -- by a lot.

"When the Sony hack happened and I found out how much less I was being paid than the lucky people with dicks, I didn't get mad at Sony. I got mad at myself," Lawrence wrote in an essay. "I failed as a negotiator because I gave up early. I didn't want to keep fighting over millions of dollars that, frankly, due to two franchises, I don't need."

Lawrence will soon hit the big screen for one last time as Katniss when "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2" lands in theaters on Nov. 20.
