Jennifer Lawrence, Jay-Z among TIME magazine's most influential people
TIME magazine is out with its 100 most influential people in the world, and this year's list features a wide array of entertainment figures -- ranging from actress Jennifer Lawrence to Justin Bieber's manager Scooter Braun.
Two critically-acclaimed R&B singers made the cut this year: Miguel and Frank Ocean, as did a few other performers, including Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z and Beyonce.
Of Beyonce, Baz Luhrmann wrote, "She and Jay-Z are the royal couple of culture, and she is the queen bee. She's gone beyond being a popular singer, even beyond being a pop-cultural icon. When Beyonce does an album, when Beyoncé sings a song, when Beyonce does anything, it's an event, and it's broadly influential."
TIME recognized a couple of prominent female TV creators, too: "Girls" star Lena Dunham and Mindy Kaling of "The Mindy Project." Bryan Cranston of "Breaking Bad" also appears in the tally, as well as TV host Jimmy Kimmel.
Oscar winners Daniel Day-Lewis and Jennifer Lawrence were among the movie stars on the list. Jodie Foster wrote in the essay about Lawrence: "You'll remember where you were when you first felt it, how you were stuck to one spot like a small animal considering its end. The Jennifer Lawrence Stare. It cuts a searing swath in your gut. A reckoning. I remember going to the cutting rooms of "Winter's Bone." I thought, Sure, this girl can act. But, man, this girl can also just be."
The April 29, 2013 issue of TIME hits newsstands on Friday.
