Jennifer Donelan

Jennifer Donelan has been the Chicago-based correspondent for CBS Newspath, the 24-hour affiliate news service of CBS News, since March 2003.

Donelan has covered major news stories such as the Washington, D.C. sniper, the Michael Jackson and Kobe Bryant trials, the 2004 Presidential campaign, the launch of Space Shuttle Discovery, and several major hurricanes, including Katrina. Internationally she has covered the train bombings in Madrid, the death of Pope John Paul II, and the wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles.

Prior to joining CBS News,she was an anchor and reporter
at WDIV-TV Detroit (2000-03), where she covered the crime beat and broke numerous stories, including several child abuse cases and serial rape investigations. Before that, Donelan was a co-anchor and general assignment reporter at WAFB-TV in Baton Rouge, La (1996-99), where she spearheaded a series of reports about GHB, known as the date-rape drug, which led to the legislation of stricter state drug laws.

Donelan is the recipient of a merit award from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters in 2001 and was recognized as "Outstanding Woman of the Year" by the Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce in 1998. She is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.

Donelan graduated from the University of Virginia in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in American government. She lives in Chicago.
