Jay Z sued over alleged "Run This Town" sample
Jay Z has been hit with a lawsuit over his song "Run This Town."
Record label TurfAmerica Inc. has sued the rapper for allegedly sampling the 1969 Eddie Bo track "Hook & Sling" without permission, the New York Daily News reports.
The New York-based record label claims the sample appears on the 2009 Jay Z track, which features Kanye West and Rihanna.
The complaint names Jay Z (whose real name is Shawn Carter), his Roc-A-Fella Records, LLC, Atlantic Recording Corp. and several other companies as defendants, according to the Daily News.
TurfAmerica has taken similar action against other music stars -- Rolling Stone reports that the label sued West last year for allegedly using a sample from the same song on his 2010 album "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy," and has also filed complaints against the Beastie Boys and Christina Aguilera.
