Jason Ritter Stars In New Conspiracy Thriller "The Event"
NEW YORK (CBS) TV star Jason Ritter is set to star in the new conspiracy thriller "The Event" debuting on Monday night in a one-hour series premiere.
The actor, known for his role in "The Class," will play Sean Walker, a man whose investigation into the sudden and mysterious disappearance of his girlfriend leads him into one of the biggest cover-ups in U.S. history.
"The Event" is a hybrid drama that incorporates threats to national security and a minority president by a group of terrorists (much like "24") and supernatural episodes of dislocation and unexplained phenomena (reminiscent of "Lost").
The series also stars actor Blair Underwood who plays President Elias Martinez (part Cuban-American) and Laura Innes (Dr. Kerry Weaver from "E.R.") who plays Sophia, a mysterious and controversial figure who seems to have the key to a terrorist plot and also scant knowledge of the supernatural physics that cause the in-need-of-an-expert event.
"The Event" premieres on tonight at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
