Jamie Foxx to play Mike Tyson in new biopic
Jamie Foxx has found himself a new heavyweight role.
The Oscar-winning "Django Unchained" star has signed on to portray Mike Tyson in an upcoming biopic about the notorious boxing figure, according to Variety.
The screenplay will come from "Boardwalk Empire" and "The Wolf of Wall Street" scribe Terrence Winter.
Foxx has played a famous figure before. He won a best actor Academy Award for his portrayal of singer Ray Charles in 2004's "Ray." He also has experience working on boxing biopics, having played trainer Drew Bundini Brown in 2001's "Ali."
The "Amazing Spider-Man 2" actor is next set to star in the new "Annie" remake as business tycoon Benjamin Stacks, but it looks like Foxx is already preparing to step into the ring as Tyson.
