James Franco, Kalup Linzy releasing EP in July

(CBS) Actor/writer/student/musician/multi-hyphenate James Franco teamed with performance artist Kalup Linzy to form a duo called Kalup and Franco and the pair has an EP coming out July 12. Will it be unusual? Oh, most assuredly!

According to Pitchfork, the duo formed after Franco asked Linzy to perform on an episode of "General Hospital" in which Franco appeared. The two have been making music together ever since (check out performance video featuring Linzy and a subdued Franco here). The EP, "Turn It Up," will feature two songs, "Turn It Up (So We Can Turn It Out)" and "Rising (Both Sides Now)," and will be available as a digital download and a limited edition 7". Vinylphiles, get ready!

The EP will be available on DJ /rupture's label Dutty Artz and features production from him, Brent Arnold and Matt Shadetek.
