Father of NFL's Jadeveon Clowney shot, arrested

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The father of NFL linebacker Jadeveon Clowney has been arrested on attempted murder charges after he allegedly fired shots outside a Rock Hill, South Carolina nightclub, reports CBS Houston.

According to CBS affiliate WBTV, officers were called to the Crazy Horse around 2:15 a.m. on Tuesday after David "Chili Bean" Morgan allegedly fired shots at an employee. Earlier that night, Morgan had reportedly been kicked out of the club for sitting on the stage.

According to the police report, the employee told them that he later saw Morgan near a wall in the back of the property. He says Morgan pulled out a gun, crouched down and fired at him.

The employee says that he then returned fire, shooting Morgan in the shoulder. After receiving treatment at the Piedmont Medical Center, Morgan was arrested and charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to the station.

Officials in Rock Hill told reporters that Morgan would be in court Tuesday afternoon for a bond hearing, according to CBS affiliate KHOU.

Morgan was previously convicted for burglary and other crimes and sentenced to 15 years in prison, reported the Texas station.

Jadeveon Clowney reportedly grew up in Rock Hill before going on to the University of South Carolina and was the first draft pick of the Houston Texans in 2014.
