Is J.Lo Eyeing Scientology?
If you're still wondering how Jim Carrey and Jennifer Lopez landed on the guest list for TomKat's lavish nuptials last month, Scientology could be the tie that binds them, the New York Post reported Wednesday.
"Jim (Carrey) is taking the introductory and beginner's courses right now," a source told the newspaper.
Another source said that J.Lo, who is a pal of actress and Scientologist Leah Remini, "has started using Scientology phrases and explains the church to people. Leah and Jennifer have been friends for years, and Leah has always talked to her about the church without pressuring her."
There is speculation that Lopez, who reportedly has had trouble conceiving in the past, could be looking to Scientology for help in starting a family, the newspaper reported.Photos: TomKat's Guests
"We can see Scientology appealing to Jennifer because, in the early stages, it is a lot of self-help," the source says.
But Lopez's husband of two and a half years, Marc Anthony, is a devout Catholic, the Post said.
Reps for Lopez told the Post, "I have no knowledge of this, but I probably wouldn't have a comment on it if I did." A rep for Carrey said, "He is not taking classes."
Other noted church followers include Kirstie Alley, John Travolta and wife Kelly Preston, Anne Archer, Isaac Hayes and Priscilla Presley.
