Is Jessica Alba looking to take company public?
Actress Jessica Alba may be looking at a new role, and this one involves Wall Street.
Accustomed to being in the public's eye, the film and television star could be looking at another type of public offering. This one, according to Bloomberg News, has Alba looking to take Honest Co., the online shopping startup she co-founded in 2011, public.
The 34-year-old actress is one of a number of celebrities who have invested in early-stage technology companies. The most active include Ashton Kutcher, Rapper Nasir "Nas" Jones and Troy Carter, manager for Lady Gaga, according to CB Insights.
Bloomberg cited people familiar with the matter in reporting Honest Co. is working with Goldman Sachs (GS) Group and Morgan Stanley (MS) about an IPO, something Brian Lee, the company's CEO and co-founder, has been talking about for more than a year.
Billed as environmentally friendly, the company has widened its offerings from natural baby products to including home cleaning and beauty supplies, which are now carried by retailers including Target and Whole Foods.
Four rounds of equity financing from nine investors raised $220 million in funding for the company, according to CrunchBase.
