How to protect yourself from this sneaky new iPhone hack
It’s a hack that will make you never want to leave your iPhone unattended again – even if it’s locked and you’re passcode “protected.”
This newly discovered glitch in iOS 10 allows anyone to send text messages, update Facebook statuses and even make calls directly from your phone’s lock screen.
Users simply have to hold down the home button while the screen is locked to call for personal assistant, Siri.
As always, a screen pops up asking, “What can I help you with?”
From there, anyone can tell Siri to text, call or post on social media accounts simply by saying so.
Scary, right?
Well, don’t panic just yet. There is a way to avoid this.
Go to Settings, select Siri, and turn off “Access on Lock Screen.”
Now Siri will be unavailable when a sneaky friend – or a stranger – tries to access your locked iPhone.
While this also means you can’t fetch Siri when your phone is in locked mode, at least you can rest easy if the device ever happens to fall into the wrong hands.
