Intrepid Shines On Silver Screen

The USS Intrepid is no stranger to Hollywood.

The iconic World War II aircraft carrier, now home to the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum and site of The Early Show's Summer Concert Series, has graced the silver screen more than once in two huge box office hits.

In the 2007 post-apocalyptic blockbuster, "I Am Legend," superstar Will Smith spent some time on the ship's deck. His character - one of the only surviving people in New York City after a plague kills most of humanity -- uses the museum's plane collection as a putting green.

Actor Nicholas Cage also boarded the Intrepid. In a heart-stopping chase scene in the 2004 film, "National Treasure," Cage's character makes a getaway by jumping from the deck of the aircraft carrier into the Hudson River to continue his search for buried treasure.

And the Intrepid will continue its broadcasting story as The Early Show continues its Summer Concert Series in the coming weeks also from the historic ship's deck.
