Independence Day fireworks show goes awry in famous Colonial city
PLYMOUTH, Mass. -- Two barges being used for a July Fourth fireworks celebration here caught fire Monday night, CBS Boston reports.
Police confirmed on Twitter that fire broke out on the first barge during a fireworks show on the waterfront, 40 miles southeast of Boston, and another barge had a malfunction.
The state fire marshal was investigating, police said.
Witnesses say the show had been going on for about 10 or 15 minutes when there was a large boom on the first barge, followed by bursts of fire. The blaze lasted about 10 minutes.
CBS Boston notes some social media users said it appeared all the fireworks went off at once.
No injuries were reported.
