Illinois teen may face hate crime charges in alleged attack on Sikh motorist
CHICAGO -- A teenager may be facing hate crime charges following an attack on a Sikh man in the Chicago suburb of Darien, reports CBS Chicago.
According to the station, Inderjit Singh Mukker was driving around 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday when someone in another car kept cutting him off, so he pulled over.
The station reports that Mukker told police the teen driver of the other car got out and hit him in the face. Mukker suffered a fractured cheekbone and a cut to his cheek.
After police interviewed Mukker, investigators determined that the attack was a hate crime. Police did not immediately provide details, but the legal director of the local Sikh Coalition told the station that the suspect called the victim "a terrorist" and "Bin Laden."
