Human remains ID'd as missing Conn. woman

STRATFORD, Conn. -- Human remains found in Connecticut this week are those of a woman who vanished from Bridgeport March 27, reports CBS affiliate WFSB.

The remains were discovered Monday in a marshy area behind a recycling center in nearby Stratford, reports the station. A medical examiner confirmed they are those of 57-year-old Minnie Lincoln, who was last seen at the Old Timers Club around 11:15 p.m. on March 27.

Lincoln was the victim of a homicide, reports the Hartford Courant. It's not clear how she died.

Police said Lincoln was last seen leaving the club and walking to a Ford F-150 pickup truck with the building owner, 36-year-old Marcus Jackson, reports WFSB.

Police described Jackson as a person of interest in Lincoln's disappearance, reports the Hartford Courant. When they went to his home and knocked on his door, they reportedly heard a gunshot, and found him dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"This is a horrible episode and our thoughts go out to the communities in Bridgeport and Stratford," Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch said, according to the Courant. "Police have worked tirelessly trying to find and bring Minnie home. But, there is information we do not yet know. Detectives are continuing to search for those answers."
