Dogs may not be able to eat chocolate for Halloween, but they sure are adorable in costume and can steal the spotlight from their celebrity owners.

This week Animal Fair Media held its 10th Annual Halloween Pet Costume Benefit in support of the Humane Society of New York. Local and national celebs got to show off their adorable pets for a good cause.

The costumes took canine creativity to a whole other level -- from dogs dressed as bed bugs on top of a bed to aliens with bug eyes, to dogs dressed as  bumble bees. There was a Lady Gaga and a scarecrow. The pooches' costumes did not disappoint.

So who had the best costume?

The winner, celebrity dog model Bandit Rubio,  was dressed in an elaborate owl costume and face mask. He was awarded a beautiful new pooper scooper.

Bandit's proud owner, Anthony Gil de Rubio, who works in education, said he was grateful for the win, considering was up until the wee hours of the night sewing the costume and the massive doggie wings.

"I was sewing so much; I thought my fingers were going to fall off!" Gil de Rubio told CBSNews.com.

Last year's "Most Tasteless Costume" award went to a three-legged rescued Chihuahua in a wheel chair-dressed as Larry Flynt!
