"How to be a Gentleman" production shut down
(CBS) "How to be a Gentleman" is getting the boot.
Deadline reports that CBS has halted production on the freshman sitcom, effectively canceling it.
The news comes a day after the network moved "Gentleman" from its prime Thursday night time slot, nestled at 8:30 between "The Big Bang Theory" and "Person of Interest," and moved it to Saturday nights.
"How to be a Gentleman" revolves around the odd-couple friendship of an etiquette columnist (David Hornsby) and his personal trainer (Kevin Dillon). The show launched to 9 million viewers, TV Line reports, down 30 percent from what the now-canceled "$#*! My Dad Says" earned in that post-"Big Bang Theory" time slot. Ratings for its second episode took a steep drop, drawing just 7.8 million viewers.
"Rules of Engagement" will take over on Thursday nights at 8:30, starting with its season premiere on Oct. 20.
So far, the other shows to get the ax this fall are: "The Playboy Club" (NBC), "Free Agents ("NBC") and "H8R" (CW).
