(CBS) Taran Noah Smith, who played the youngest child on the '90s sitcom "Home Improvement" for eight years, was arrested early Wednesday for DUI and drug possession, reports say.

The 27-year-old former actor was arrested around 1 a.m. in Los Angeles County, reports TMZ. Police saw Smith's 1998 silver Honda Accord, which was parked at an angle in front of a fire hydrant, and decided to investigate the situation.

Police believe Smith was under the influence of marijuana at the time of his arrest and they reportedly discovered hash, a type of marijuana in his car, according to TMZ.

Smith, who played Mark Taylor on "Home Improvement," is still in police custody, according to the site.

Since his role on "Home Improvement," Smith has stayed out of the spotlight. In 2001, he sued his parents over the money he made during the show as a minor, reports People.
