ESPN reporter Holly Rowe undergoes surgery to remove tumor
BRISTOL, Conn. -- ESPN reporter Holly Rowe says she underwent surgery to remove a tumor.
Rowe had surgery in May to remove a tumor in her chest, and she said in a statement released by the network Tuesday that a new tumor had recently been found.
Rowe said she was having surgery Tuesday and "in the coming days, I will know more about what potential additional steps I may take to address this situation."
She thanked colleague Shelley Smith for her guidance after Smith went through her own cancer treatments. Rowe added: "I hope to be back at work soon doing what gives me so much joy in life."
Rowe tweeted that the surgery "went well."
Rowe joined ESPN on a regular basis in 1998 and primarily covers college football, college basketball and softball.
