Hewlett-Packard resurrects the HP TouchPad one last time
(CBS) - For those of you who have been trying to hunt down an HP TouchPad to get in on that awesome $99 deal, hope is not lost.
Despite reports yesterday that HP is no longer allowing consumers to fill out the form to be notified when more TouchPads become available, the company revealed that it plans to crank out "one last run" of TouchPads, reports Reuters. This, just days after saying that it will kill the line of tablets because it failed to rival Apple's glorious iPad. Who knew all they had to do was drop the price significantly to rake in the customers?
Still trying to get a $99 HP TouchPad? Hewlett-Packard answers your questions
"HP announced a temporary about-face on the gadget after being 'pleasantly surprised' by the outsized demand generated by a weekend fire-sale," according to Reuters. The weekend of the fire sale, the HP TouchPad sold out at chains like Best Buy and Barnes & Noble.
The TouchPad was previously $399 for the 16GB and $499 for the 32GB, then dropped to $99 and $149 respectively on August 18 after the announcement came out that it would discontinue the gadget.

So how many will be sold on this last run and when can we start the TouchPad buying frenzy again? The number and date have yet to be released. "We don't know exactly when these units will be available or how many we'll get, and we can't promise we'll have enough for everyone," HP said in a post entitled "More TouchPads on the Way" on The Next Bench, its official blog.
The only thing we know right now is that it will be a few more weeks before you can purchase and that HP will actually lose money on this final production run.
Stay tuned for updates.
