HBO orders rock drama from Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger

Get ready to rock out on HBO.

The network has given a series order to a new drama series from Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger set during the music scene in 1970s New York.

According to Variety, the show will explore "the drug and sex fueled music business as punk and disco were breaking out, all through the eyes of a record executive trying to resurrect his label and find the next new sound."

Bobby Cannavale ("Boardwalk Empire") is set to star as Richie Finestra, the aforementioned music executive who undergoes a crisis of character when faced with a life-altering decision. Olivia Wilde will play his wife, Devon, a former actress/model who reverts to her former Bohemian lifestyle amid her husband's troubles.

The cast also includes Ray Romano, Andrew "Dice" Clay, Juno Temple and James Jagger -- the son of the Rolling Stones frontman -- who will play the lead singer of a fictional early punk-rock band called the Nasty Bits.

Scorsese and Jagger are both executive producers on the project along with Terence Winter, who will also write and act as showrunner.
