"Hamilton" celebrates "Star Wars" and May the 4th with J.J. Abrams
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" director J.J. Abrams made his Broadway singing debut Wednesday -- sort of.
To celebrate May the 4th, the unofficial Star Wars day of celebration, Abrams joined "Hamilton" impresario Lin-Manuel Miranda outside the theater for its weekly #Ham4Ham performance for fans of the show waiting in line in hopes of winning tickets to the Broadway smash hit.
Together, they performed a song Miranda had written for Abrams' "Star Wars" film, "Jabba Flow," after Abrams discussed how the song came to be in the film after first meeting Miranda following a "Hamilton" performance.
"He, as a joke, said, 'If you need music for the Cantina, I'm your guy,'" Abrams said. "And I said, 'You're not going to believe this, I need music for the Cantina.'"
Abrams and Miranda also revealed that in honor of the special day, the song is available to stream on StarWars.com or download on iTunes.
