Half Baked! John Stropko Brings Weed-Laced Birthday Cake to Class, Police Say

CAVE CREEK, Ariz. (CBS/AP) Talk about getting baked!

Scottsdale, Ariz., police say they arrested 18-year-old John Stropko for bringing a birthday cake to school laced with marijuana.

Stropko, a student at Cactus Shadows High School, admitted that in addition to batter and frosting, he sprinkled his birthday cake with weed, say police.

Five students who indulged in the birthday festivities didn't seem to mind at all. However, two of his classmates were taken to the Scottsdale Healthcare Thompson Peak Hospital after complaining to the school nurse that they felt "strange," according to KHPO.

Upon further examination, the students, 18 and 16, had elevated heart rates and THC, the main active chemical in marijuana, in their systems. Both of the students denied taking any illegal substances, but admitted to having eaten birthday cake earlier in the day.

As a result of the "fake 'n bake" scandal, John Stropko is facing suspicion of endangerment charges, as well as a possible expulsion from school. The district also reminded parents and students that "no food prepared at home may be sent to school to share," KHPO reports.

Perhaps next time school officials will "weed" out Stropko's baked delights.
