"Hairy defense" acquits Pa. bank robbery suspect
(CBS/AP) A Philadelphia man was acquitted of bank robbery by a hair - in fact, by quite a lot of hair. Maybe it even helped that the lawyer for 21-year-old Timothy Corbett made a point of comparing his client's hair...to Brillo.
The evidence against Corbett in a bank robbery last year included surveillance footage and an eyewitness account. However, his defense was that his stiff hair didn't match the tousled appearance of the alleged robber in the video. A Bucks County jury agreed Wednesday, finding Corbett not guilty of charges including robbery and terroristic threats.
Defense attorney Louis Busico tugged on his client's hair during closing arguments, telling the jury that if he couldn't move it, then there was no way Corbett was the man with the mussed locks in the video.
"My client has a light bulb head, a hooked nose. And look at this hair," lawyer Louis Busico said, tugging at Corbett's head. He continued, "It's like Brillo. It doesn't move," according to phillyBurbs.com.
