Hacker threatened cop over NYPD radio: "I'm coming for you"

NEW YORK -- Police in New York City say they're searching for a hacker who infiltrated police-only radio frequencies to threaten a police captain.

The messages were transmitted Saturday evening and were directed at a captain in the Midtown South precinct in Manhattan, reports CBS New York.

"South Duty captain to central. Remember you put me in jail? I'm out now and I am going to put a bullet in your head," the suspect says in one transmission over the closed frequency.

The department tells the station the threats aren't credible, but police issued a warning to officers Saturday urging them to be cautious. The transmissions were captured on Broadcastify.com.

"Remember captain, I'm coming for you," the suspect is heard saying. "Come find me. I'm right here in the Walgreens in Times Square."

In another transmission, the suspect says: "Captain, captain, oh captain, oh captain, oh captain, oh captain, I'm gonna put a bullet in your mother too, son."

Police tell the station they've received no new threats since Saturday. A motive remains unclear.
