Gunman spotted on Missouri University of Science and Technology campus
(CBS/KMOV) ROLLA, Mo. - According to the Missouri University of Science and Technology website, a gunman was on the campus Thursday morning.
The alert came out just before 9:00 a.m. on Thursday.
At 9:10 a.m., university officials reported that the suspect had left the campus.
According to CBS affiliate KMOV, authorities on the campus are still working to secure buildings and anyone on campus is asked to stay indoors.
Campus police spokesman Andrew Careaga says there have been no reports of shootings and that police are trying to locate the gunman.
University officials warn those not on campus to avoid the area altogether.
The school was formerly known as the University of Missouri-Rolla.
