Guilty plea in boat crash that killed bride-to-be, best man

NEW YORK -- The man charged in last July's Hudson River boat crash that killed a New York bride-to-be and her groom's best man has pleaded guilty, reports CBS New York.

Jojo John pleaded guilty to two counts of vehicular manslaughter, reports the station. He was at the wheel of a 19-foot power boat when it slammed into a construction barge July 26, 2013, reports the station.

Prosecutors say John, 35, was under the influence at the time of the crash. His defense attorneys have argued that poor lighting on the construction barge.

The bride-to-be, Lindsey Stewart, and her fiance's best man Mark Lennon were killed. Four others were injured. The crash came just weeks before Stewart, 30, was set to marry her fiancé, Brian Bond.

The group had left the village of Piermont for a short trip aboard the boat across the river to Tarrytown, about 30 miles north of New York City, authorities said.

John will spend two years in jail, reports the station.
