Groom among seven arrested after Pa. wedding brawl

ONTELAUNEE TWP., Pa. -- An alcohol-fueled brawl at an eastern Pennsylvania wedding resulted in the arrests of seven people, including the groom, reports CBS Philly.

Police say the melee in Ontelaunee Township started around 8 p.m. Monday when wedding guest Mandi L. Groh punched another guest in the face after the second woman confronted Groh about allegedly letting her 14-year-old son, who was visibly intoxicated, drink beer at the reception.

When police arrived, they reportedly found about a dozen people bleeding, many of them shirtless and intoxicated.

Responding officers were reportedly threatened by the group, and they called for backup. In all, about a dozen police departments responded and four officers were treated for minor injuries after several in the group attacked them.

One man, 46-year-old Brian R. Pelker, was reportedly arrested after struggling with officers and grabbing one of them in the genital area.

The groom, 31-year-old Nicholas Papoutsis, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and interfering with administration of the law after allegedly trying to fight police.

The woman accused of instigating the brawl, Groh, was arrested and her 14-year-old son was treated at a local hospital, where his blood alcohol level was reportedly found to be twice the legal limit for an adult. Groh's husband, Jesse Groh, 38, allegedly had three large folding pocket knives on him and was covered in blood at the time of his arrest.

The Grohs are charged with corruption of minors, furnishing alcohol to minors, simple assault, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and obstruction of justice, CBS Philly reported.

The bride, who police say was distraught, was reportedly treated at the scene for alcohol poisoning and dehydration.
