Greta Gerwig cast in "How I Met Your Dad" on CBS
CBS has found its mother. And it’s not Ted Mosby’s wife from the soon-to-end “How I Met Your Mother.”
CBS News has learned that the spinoff, “How I Met Your Dad,” has tapped Greta Gerwig to play Sally for the pilot. The characters is expected to be a "Peter Pan" sort of character, who's not sure where her life is going after realizing that her husband of less than a year isn’t the right fit.
Similar to “How I Met Your Mother,” the upcoming series -- if picked up -- will follow Sally as she navigates dating and life, all leading her to the man she will eventually marry.
Gerwig is expected to help produce and write the series, along with "How I Met Your Mother" creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas.
This year has been a big one for Gerwig so far. She scored a 2014 Golden Globe nomination for lead actress in a comedy for her role in “Frances Ha.” And she’ll soon be seen in “The Humbling” with Al Pacino.
"How I Met Your Mother" is in its ninth and final season on CBS.
