#GoodFriday and Kanye West: What we're watching now
(CBS/What's Trending) In honor of Good Friday, we're reminding you of the other G.O.O.D Friday. You know, Kanye West's G.O.O.D Friday: the weekly free track giveaway inspired out of the goodness of Kanye West's... ego.
From August 20 to December 17, 2010, the rapper posted a free track every week (well, almost) through his twitter and blog in an effort to get his music out there to the masses. These songs included remixes of hits like "Power" and the monster -- no pun intended -- single "Monster." For the most part, music fans were excited at the prospect of free music and applauded Kanye's decision to release a track every week. Rap connoisseurs wondered if his move to give his music away was a response to the over commercialization of the genre. Hipsters scrutinized every lyric and then awkwardly moved to his tracks at their dance parties.The songs also inspired some interesting remixes. YouTube user and DJ Ashton Authentic tried his hand at "Christian Dior Denim Flow" by Kanye West featuring Kid Cudi, Pusha T, John Legend, Lloyd Banks & Ryan Leslie: Or this version of "Good Friday" by Jay Grass: Others taught us how to play the song for ourselves: But some listeners had the opposite reaction to his music, like this lady:
