Golden Globes fashion: The hits and the misses
The Golden Globes, which will take place on Sunday, not only signal the start of awards season, but it also kicks off a flurry of red carpet fashion.
At last year's award ceremony, Angelina Jolie turned heads channeling Hollywood glamour in her Atelier Versace ivory strapless gown with a flash of red at the bustline. Over the years Jolie has found herself on many of the Golden Globes best dressed lists, most notable with her green Versace dress in 2011 and her mauve St. John gown in 2007.
Claire Danes, who received praise from fashion critics for her black-and-white J. Mendel gown last year, has also appeared on many best dressed lists.
Newcomer Jessica Chastain made her Golden Globes red carpet debut last year wearing a high-neck, pearl-covered Givenchy Haute Couture gown by Riccardo Tisci and the look was a hit.
Along with fashion hits there were several misses as well. Last year's red carpet disasters included Amanda Peet's unflattering tiered Marc Jacobs gown, Missi Pyle's olive Junko Yoshioka ensemble and Sarah Michelle Gellar's tie-dyed Monique Lhullier look.
This year's red carpet will feature many style stars including Chastain, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts and more. The Golden Globes airs this Sunday at 7 p.m. ET.
