Glitch double-debits some Chase customers
(MoneyWatch) Some JPMorgan Chase (JPM) banking customers in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut recently got a rude awakening when they checked their accounts: A computer glitch caused some transactions to be posted twice.
Chase spokesman Michael Fusco tells CBS MoneyWatch the problem was discovered Monday and that the bank is automatically reversing the double charges and reimbursing potential fees that may have accrued. In a follow-up e-mail, Fusco adds all duplicate charges and fees were reversed by mid-afternoon Tuesday.
Chase was unable to say how many customers were affected by the problem, but said that some of the transactions may have occurred this past weekend.
Chase customers can check charges online or at a branch. If you are still seeing discrepancies, contact Chase.
