Glenn Close Goes To New 'Heights'
With five Oscar nominations and countless awards on her extensive resume, Glenn Close's artistry and talent have created some of the most memorable characters on stage and screen.
Her latest film, "Heights," follows five characters over 24-hours on a fall day in New York City.
"It's a wonderfully New York movie," she tells The Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith, pointing out the great isolation people experience in the city of millions.
She says, "The isolation in the crowd, but isolation even with the people that you know and you're relating to. So it's just about the wonderful intertwining of these lives and what happens in a 24-hour period."
Close plays a successful actress in the middle of a marital crisis.
"I've not been a great mother," Close says, explaining her role. "I've been acting all my life. And she has had to play second fiddle to that. And she doesn't think I'm a very good role model."
As for her own career and family life, Close says she is done with playing the part of Captain Monica Rawling in "The Shield."
Close says, "I couldn't do the commute. To be in L.A. from January to May during my daughter's senior year in high school, I couldn't do it. I adore them. I had a spectacular time. I love that character. And I loved all of them."
"Heights" is Chris Terrio's directorial debut. The film also stars Elizabeth Banks and James Marsden.
