Gisele Bundchen Clears Up "Poison" Sunscreen Comments

NEW YORK (CBS) Supermodel Gisele Bundchen is setting the record straight about the reports that claim she called sunscreen "poison."
Last week, she was quoted in the UK's Daily Mail saying that she doesn't use the product because of the chemical additives, and instead exposes herself to the sun only before 8 a.m.
"I cannot put this poison on my skin. I do not use anything synthetic," the 30-year-old said.
Bundchen took to her blog to clear up the report and said, "I do use sunblock but I also try my best not to be exposed to the sun when it is too strong."
"I feel we all need to pay more attention to what we are putting on our skin," she wrote. "I definitely know the importance of using sunscreen and I try to look for more natural options."
Her rep also told People magazine that the whole situation was a misunderstanding.
"They misquoted her due to a language barrier," her rep said. "Gisele would never say not use sunscreen because she has family members who have had skin cancer."
" When using sunscreens she selects ones that are free of parabens, oxybenzone, PABA, and retinyl palmitate," her rep added, saying, "she buys her sunscreen at Whole Foods, so she can find ones that are free of harsh chemicals.
