Girlfriend arrested after man says he fell on knife

PONTIAC, Mich. - Police say a Michigan man is recovering after he allegedly suffered a stab wound and then lied to investigators about how it happened, reports CBS Detroit.

Deputies discovered the 29-year-old man intoxicated and bleeding from his stomach at around 11 a.m. on Sunday, at his Pontiac, Michigan, home. He said he had fallen on a kitchen knife, but deputies later concluded that the man's 24-year-old girlfriend -- who was in the home at the time with her two children -- was responsible for the stabbing.

The man was taken to a local hospital, the woman was arrested, and the children were left in the care of the woman's grandmother, deputies said.

The victim was last reported in stable condition and the woman is in jail while awaiting formal charges. Their identities have not yet been released and police have not said if they know what may have led to the stabbing.
