"Ghostbusters" female-led reboot sets summer 2016 release date
A release date has been set for the latest incarnation of "Ghostbusters," right on the heels of the announcement of its female-led cast.
After The Hollywood Reporter reported Tuesday that Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones would star in the reboot, writer/director Paul Feig seemingly confirmed that news via a wordless tweet -- and then sent another a few hours later revealing when the film will hit theaters.
McCarthy and Wiig previously worked with Feig on the hit comedy "Bridesmaids," while McKinnon and Jones are best known for their work on "Saturday Night Live."
Feig confirmed in October that he was making a new "Ghostbusters" movie, in which he planned to cast "hilarious women."
Per THR, the film is planning a summer shoot in New York City.
